Houston Service Center Closes
December 27, 2007

Pounds Photographic Labs, Inc. closes its Houston Service Center on December 28, 2007 after over 25 years of face-to-face service to the Houston area. Training programs and local support will be continued.  Watch for details in our Digital Education pages.

Gary Hutson, service center manager, encourages all Houston Service Center customers to make arrangements to pick up any work prior to the closing.  Work not picked up by the close of business December 28 will be stored locally for a brief time and then returned to the Dallas lab for safe keeping. Contact customer service in Dallas after December 28 to inquire about work not picked up.

New lab work can be shipped using FedEx, DHL, UPS or the U.S. Mail as the carrier.  If you are not in a position to receive shipments during the day we have made arrangements with the Kinkos just across Highway 290 from our service center (10670 Northwest Freeway, 713-956-2366) for us to ship to you at their address. They will hold work there for you to pick up.

All counter customers need to select a shipping method. We have made an attempt to call each Houston counter customer to allow them to pick a shipping method. If we have not reached you please contact Doris Cox (512-833-3523 or dcox@poundslabs.com) to choose your preferred shipping method.  If you submit an order but have not selected a shipping method your order will be delayed as we attempt to contact you regarding your preferred shipping method.

For the first quarter of 2008, Pounds will pay for shipping regardless of account volume.  Towards the end of March, Pounds will evaluate each account to determine if the volume is sufficient to warrant continued free shipping.
If the account has averaged $300 per month, it will automatically qualify for free shipping.  If a $300 per month sales average has not been maintained, then Pounds will compare actual shipping expenses for the account to the dollar amount billed with the lab during that period.  If those expenses have averaged less than 10 percent of billings, free shipping will be continued.  If the cost has been greater than 10 percent, a customer service representative will contact the account holder about alternatives.

If you prefer to pay by credit card we encourage you to contact Doris Cox (contact info above) to set your account up to be paid by credit card at the time of billing. None of the carriers accepts credit cards for payment of shipments sent COD. Also, be aware that COD shipments are subject to a COD fee that varies based on the on the carrier selected.
For any questions regarding your account or the closing of the service center, feel free to contact our Dallas lab at 800-350-5671 or via e-mail.
